Rufus WainwrightTake All My Loves                                    Rufus Wainwright commemorates the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death with an album of nine adaptions of Shakespearean sonnets. Wainwright reflected on the project by saying “once you start to get into the sonnets it takes on this timeless, ageless, almost futuristic quality. So much of the language and so much of the sentiment is contemporary — gender and sexuality and love and hate are just so plainly exhibited that it’s really searing”

Guided By VoicesPlease Be Honest                          They’re getting the band back together! While the album is being officially released under the Guided By Voices name, Robert Pollard will play all of the instruments on the new record. A short North American tour will bring back original members Bobby Bare Jr, Kevin March, Nick Mitchell, Mark Shue, as well as Robert Pollard. Though it may not be GBV is its purist sense, it is still exciting to know that they’ll be playing together once again, even if it’s for a short time.

A$AP FergAlways Strive and Prosper                          A$AP Ferg will be releasing his second studio album on Friday, his first official release since his Ferg Forever Mixtape in 2014. Ferg Forever served as an inside look at the Ferg’s dark family dynamic and gave us a glimpse a more vulnerable side. “New Level”, a traditional Ferg anthem, and EDM influenced “Strive feat. Missy Elliot” are the only two releases from Always Strive and Prosper thus far, but hopefully show the range of the coming album.

Andy StottToo Many Voices                                               A contemporary composer, Andy Stott’s music transplants you into the world of his mind’s creation. His label calls Too Many Voices “a vision of the future as was once imagined: artificial, strange, and immaculate. Full of possibilities.” Stott has a knack for creating an oddly satisfying balance of manic instability and lulling background rhythms, making his labels description of his newest work ever more enticing.
