When Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks announced their planned departure from the group, the notion that the Allman Brothers Band annual residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre would be something special came as little surprise. Recordings of past residencies are gold among tape traders and some are offered as official releases. Also coming as little surprise was the announcement that the group would break up this year. The first 6 of March’s 10 shows went off with out a hitch; the final 4 shows were rescheduled after Gregg Allman took ill. The residency culminated last night with a  no frills, no music filled night.

Music critic Ben Ratliff live tweeted and reviewed the show in today’s New York Times.
